Last month we found out Google was testing an on-screen keyboard for Chrome OS. The idea of such project arose excitement within the Chrome OS community, promising the possibility of Chrome OS tablets. With a recent update we are now one step closer to seeing such devices as Google has released an on-screen Keyboard for Chrome OS, but it’s not ready for prime time just yet.
The experimental on-screen Chrome OS keyboard is only available for Chrome OS Dev users. It is far from being perfect, as you can see in the video above. The keyboard covers about half of the screen’s width, yet the keyboard are extends across the screen and blocks precious screen real estate.
I am not the biggest fan of the keyboard, but it is still a work in progress. The aesthetics and functionality of this feature will definitely be improved in due time. Soon after that, we will probably start seeing those Chrome OS tablets we have been reading about for a long time. Let’s hope Google IO brings forth some good news!
