Chrome for Google TV hasn’t offered the best experience compared to its desktop and mobile versions. Google TV’s Chrome browser is outdated, just like its Android version, something that is now changing. Google is updating Android (to 4.2.2) and Chrome to the latest version on Google TV.
What’s more important is the fact that Google is now promising to give Google TV’s Chrome the same six-week update cycle we enjoy with other platforms. Google has also added support for hardware-based content protection. This allows developers to offer HD video from their web apps.
Google TV has been a bit abandoned, so it is nice to see the smart TV platform getting some love. Placing it next to computers and smartphones is ideal, so don’t let it fall behind anymore, Google!
