Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse could come to Wii U

This year is shaping up to be a great one for retro gamers. Not only is the Virtual Console headed to Wii U this year, but we’re getting great remakes like the new DuckTales Remastered that was announced at PAX East. Now, it appears as if the 1990 classic Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse could be coming to the Wii U as well. The game received classification in Brazil back in January for several systems, including the Wii U, though the production date was set to 1990. That means if anything its a port of the old game, but given that Sega is remaking DuckTales, that’s not out of the realm of possibility either.

There’s no clue if Sega plans on releasing a polished up port or an HD remake, but I’d cautiously keep my eye on this one. The interest in the DuckTales Remastered version could very well lead Sega down the path of full remake if the game sees enough support. What do you think? Did you play the original? Are you excited about playing the game again or for the first time? Let us know in the comments below.
