Japanese publisher Capcom has yet to show any support for the Wii U. In fact, they haven’t announced a single Wii U Capcom game to date. Now, according to the company’s latest financial report, they don’t really believe the Wii U is a next gen console to begin with. In its report, Capcom states that while Nintendo will release a new console this year, “time is required before the next generation console cycle begins in earnest”. Meaning that the next generation starts with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720. According to Capcom, at least.
While Capcom has yet to unveil a single Wii U game, it still looks like they’re planing to support the console in the future. Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata has said on record that he would love to see the franchise on the Wii U. Last month, A Capcom vice president dropped by the official forums and said that they have “some good stuff coming to the Wii U“.
Capcom is behind several popular franchises, including Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and the recently announced sci-fi action title Remember Me, which was at one point considered for the Wii U. The game is Capcom’s brand new IP set for release in 2013 on various consoles and PC. But sadly, not the Wii U.
