Focus on stamina first to make Breath of the Wild easier

Along your journey to save Hyrule from the evil Calamity Ganon, you’ll come across numerous shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. When you complete the challenges – which can be defeating a robot or getting to the other side using your wits – within a temple you’ll be rewarded with a Spirit Orb. By praying at a statue, you can trade in every four orbs you receive for a heart container or part of a stamina wheel.

My mistake was underestimating just how much stamina would be important in this game. You use it for everything from running to charging up your spin attack to gliding across plains with your paraglider. In short, it’s important. Heart containers, not so much. I’ve found that most of the stronger enemies in Breath of the Wild kill you in one hit, but if they don’t, then you can just eat some food (and you’ll never run out of food) to get those hearts back up.

No, you’ll want to focus on pumping up your stamina before you do anything with those heart containers. The more stamina you have, the easier it is to travel around the world, visit more shrines, get more orbs, and start the process all over again.

Fortunately, if you’ve been pouring resources into heart containers, you can reverse this mistake by respecing in Hateno Village. Refer to the video above for a quick guide on how to do that. It’s a little costly, but entirely worth it.

Once you feel like you have enough stamina to comfortably navigate Breath of the Wild, then switch focus to getting more heart containers. This way, you can at least traverse the large world with far less effort.
