Binding of Isaac: Rebirth coming to Wii U and New 3DS

With all the pranking that went on yesterday, mention of Edmund McMillan’s Binding of Isaac was passed around. We didn’t post yesterday despite the blog post from Edmund saying that Binding of Isaac is finally making its way to Nintendo consoles because we were sure he was pranking us. Turns out that’s only half true.

Edmund’s prank post described how he was able to make the game’s controversial religious imagery acceptable to Nintendo by replacing the nudity in the game with fig leaves, and replacing all the Christian-themed imagery with references to Scientology-related items, like the E-meter. The post has all the classic makings of a great April Fool’s day post and you can read it here if you’re interested.

The half truth comes in today, as McMillan has revealed that Isaac is in fact coming to Wii U and the New Nintendo 3DS and it will not be censored in any way. He posted this short image of the game running on the new 3DS as proof.

The game will only be available on New 3DS because it takes advantage of the extra processing power in the machine, which is especially needed when you’ve managed to delve deep into the basement and collected a lot of items, or you’re facing a room with tons of monsters on the screen.
