Best Buy employees buy a Wii U for a boy who played the demo every day

I absolutely love this story so I couldn’t not share it with you guys. Best Buy employees in Valley Stream, New York noticed the same young man coming into their store every day and sitting down at the Wii U demo kiosk to play a few rounds of Super Smash Bros. before going home. Without fail, the young man showed up every day.

Some employees in the store noticed and watched and decided to do something generous for this young man, pooling their cash to get him a Wii U and a copy of Super Smash Bros. of his own. The event was recorded and you can see the young man struggling to contain his emotions when the kindness of these strangers who have watched him every day becomes apparent. Here’s what the employee who posted the video had to say about it:

“This kid came in every single day to play the display Wii U, the employees in this store saw an opportunity to make a child smile and did just that. They chipped in and purchased a Wii U for him with their own money. This is amazing, why shop at Amazon when you have genuine people in this world that you can continue to help keep a job.”

It warms my heart to see these Best Buy employees helping a fellow gamer in need, someone who may not have a lot of opportunities to own their own gaming console. The young man lives in a rough neighborhood and was afraid of walking home with his new console, so one of the employees dropped him off with it so he could safely get home.

Talk about dedication. I remember as a young kid getting really excited to play the Super Mario World SNES demo at the Sears store in our town. I grew up pretty poor and it was a great distraction to have, so seeing this story brought tears to my own eyes that there are people out there who would do something like this for someone who so obviously enjoys gaming.

This is the spirit of Christmas and I absolutely love it.
