Bayonetta 3 could be a Wii U exclusive as well, says developer

Bayonetta-2

Bayonetta 2 isn’t even out yet, but developer Yusuke Hashimoto already has high hopes for a third installment under the Nintendo exclusivity umbrella. In a recent interview with CVG, Hashimoto confirmed that he’d love to continue the franchise under Nintendo’s umbrella and that the publisher has been more than understanding in terms of getting the game perfect for fans.

Should the opportunity arise I’d definitely like to keep nurturing this franchiseIn terms of nurturing the content of this game, there’s a lot that we learned from Nintendo and if possible we would love to do it again and keep nurturing our child.

Hashimoto also had high praise for Nintendo as a publisher, stating that the company let his team work with complete creative freedom and only stepped in with minor suggestions that weren’t initially apparent to the team working so close to the project.

I feel that it’s important to let your creativity flow and Nintendo has been able to provide us with the freedom to create what we had originally envisioned. We were able to have a lot of back-and-forth and they were able to provide objective feedback. I feel that was really good and helped push Bayonetta 2 to even higher quality.

“We started out with a fundamental freedom, with Nintendo telling us to go and create the game as we saw fit. But as the game started to take shape and we were starting to put all the pieces together, they were able to point out some things that we didn’t realise ourselves. That was really helpful for us.

Bayonetta 2 will be released in October on Wii U, including a copy of the original game whether you buy it through retail or digital channels.
