Yesterday we revealed that the next title in the Assassin’s Creed series would be Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game takes place in the early 18th century Caribbean, where players will assume control of Edward Kenway–Haytham Kenway’s father. The game’s box art has been officially unveiled today as you can see above. Along with this reveal platforms were officially announced and among those is the Wii U.

The game will likely focus heavily on naval combat as that was one area in which Assassin’s Creed 3 stood out over the other titles in the series. For those of you who wanted more, you’re about to get it. Story-wise nothing is known yet, but it’s unusual for the Assassin’s Creed series to head backwards in time instead of forwards. No release date has been announced, but we’ll keep you up to date with more information.
