Today Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma took to Miiverse to announce a new DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors. The game is out today and is a hybrid of Dynasty Warriors combat set in various locations around The Legend of Zelda series. Aonuma announced several pieces of downloadable content for the game, including the first called the Master Quest Pack, which will be available on October 16. No full details about the pack were released, but Aonuma did tease one weapon. Epona will appear in the pack and can be used as a weapon.

Some of you may be surprised to hear that Epona is a “weapon”, but in Hyrule Warriors, she can team up with Link to attack enemies!
I already had a chance to try out Epona in the game. By riding Epona, I was able to blow heards of enemies away and gallop swiftly through the fields, and I had a lot of fun trying out this re-imagined version of her in Hyrule Warriors.

In the Zelda series, players never had a chance to tackle bosses by galloping around them with Epona like in Hyrule Warriors, so I hope fans will enjoy playing as Zelda characters in a game with a different type of action than you typically find in the original series.

Aside from Epona as an additional new weapon, Aonuma also mentioned that the Master Quest Pack will also contain new costumes and scenarios for fans to enjoy. No prices were revealed for the content either, but given how reasonably priced the Mario Kart 8 DLC has been, we expect the same once Nintendo is ready to talk about this pack further.

Thanks, Calvin!
