AllCast developer can bring Android mirroring to Chromecast

One of the biggest Chromecast feature requests is Android screen mirroring. The ability to display your Android device’s screen on a TV would bring another level of functionality to your Chromecast experience, but when will this happen? AllCast developer Koushik Dutta is teasing this feature with the following image:

Of course, this image made our hearts stop for a second. We have seen the promise of Android mirroring coming to Chromecast, but we were unsure of its limitations. It seemed like it was a feature Google would control, and wouldn’t be available for third-party apps.

Did Koushik find a work-around? Maybe Google is letting developers tinker with said feature. Regardless, it’s great to see that AllCast (or other apps) might bring Android mirroring to Chromecast soon.

Devices like the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter and the AIRTAME have gotten much hype simply due the fact they feature screen mirroring. These are more expensive and don’t fall within the Google blanket, though. It’s always nice to work with official Google products, especially when the Chromecast costs $35!

So there you have it! Koush could have something under his sleeve. Let’s hope he tells us more soon, in which case – you will be the first to know. How many of you would be happy to see this coming? Let us know in the comments and hit the source link to encourage the AllCast developer to bring this feature soon!
