A new article published in The Wall Street Journal seems to hint that Nintendo will definitely release the handheld and portable portion of the rumored Nintendo NX device this year. The analyst firm IHS Inc. released a report that states they expect to see an increase in flat-panel displays shipping this year, thanks to the impeding release of the Nintendo NX.

“We expect a small recovery in shipments of flat-panel displays for game devices because of Nintendo’s new game hardware expected to be released in 2016.”

“Their expectation is that displays sized between 3.1 – 5 inches wide will increase to 16.5 million units this year, growth from 14.1 million units last year. However, data has shown that OLED displays would remain unused by the market.”

While this is just an analyst firm speculating on the potential release date of the upcoming console, more and more signs are pointing toward the handheld NX releasing this year while the console possibly comes at a later date. Would you be okay with this release strategy from Nintendo, if the NX is indeed a hybrid console?
