During today’s Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata revealed Amiibo Tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits as another perk of owning amiibo. When this app releases on the Wii U eShop, you’ll be able to download it for free and any amiibo you own against your Wii U GamePad to get a scene from a classic Nintendo game. The game you get may be related to the amiibo you tap and it may not, as Mr. Iwata stated, this is like a box of chocolates. You don’t know what you’ll get until you tap.
This new app will be coming sometime this Spring and will work with all currently released amiibo, so if you’ve been stockpiling your collection until now you’ll have quite a bit of fun when this is released.
