The biggest gamble for Nintendo this holiday season was the amiibo release. Nintendo faced stiff competition from both Skylanders and Disney Infinity, but according to retail information gathered at Best Buy, it looks like the popularity of amiibo has already eclipsed Skylanders and is tied with Disney Infinity. That’s not too surprising, considering Nintendo has the only library of characters with brand recognition capable of going up against Disney’s figures, including Marvel.
The chart above is taken from looking at Best Buy’s top 50 products in the games-to-toys category. Both Nintendo and Disney have 18 products in the top 50, while Skylanders only has 14 products in the top category.
