AllCast developer Koushik Dutta made us jump out of our seats last week, when he showed us the image above. Android screen mirroring to Chromecast is one of the most requested features for the popular HDMI dongle. This week, Koush turns words into actions by demoing said feature in video and sharing it with all of us!
Android mirroring seems to work very well with Chromecast! There is the expected lag, but that is to be expected when you are streaming your display. The response time will not be immediate, but it is still a great solution for those who simply want to showcase something from their phone.
You can use it for a presentation, for example. Maybe you could use it for a tutorial? It will be hard to play games in it, given the slight delay. It should work for everything else, though. And the best part of this is that Koush is not even done working on this and it already looks like it performs very well!
Screen mirroring is a reason why many purchase an Apple TV instead of a Chromecast (given that you have other Apple products). It’s also the reason why we think some competitors have a chance at taking on the Chromecast. The AIRTAME is one of them, but will it beat Chromecast when Android screen mirroring comes to Google’s device?
I doubt it. Let’s hope Koushik can put this feature on AllCast very soon! Stay tuned and we will let you know as soon as that happens.
