One of the biggest game publishers in the world, Activision, is bringing several games to the Wii U. The biggest one among those is Call of Duty Black Ops 2, which will have unique Wii U features such as local multiplayer where one player uses the TV while another plays on the GamePad.
Black Ops 2 will be a Wii U launch title, but one aspect of the Call of Duty experience has yet to be confirmed for the Wii U: DLC, or downloadable content. Activision has yet to officially confirm DLC for the Wii U, but according to a recent press release, the company is “working with Nintendo” to bring its “Season Pass” service to the Wii U. The Season Pass is a $50/year service that includes free access to all DLC for a Call of Duty game, plus some other features.
Activision also revealed that they are working with Nintendo to bring regular DLC packs to the Wii U. Call of Duty has been thriving on DLC for years, offering new maps and features to players. The publisher had a lucrative deal with Microsoft to bring the DLC on the Xbox 360 weeks ahead of other consoles, which made the Xbox 360 the preferred platform for Call of Duty games.
Ubisoft recently confirmed that it will release Assassin’s Creed 3 DLC on the Wii U, so it doesn’t seem to be a technical issue of getting downloadable content on the console.
