3DS game sales reach 100 million in Japan

Nintendo has announced that they have sold over 100 million 3DS games in Japan since its launch in 2011.

It shows just how popular the DS handheld has been in Japan: the regular DS has also sold 100 million games during its life time. The only other console to achieve this feat is the PS2.

And it shows no signs of slowing down: the recently released Pokemon Sun & Moon sold 2 million copies in just 3 days. That game is now on track to beat the best selling 3DS game in history: Pokemon X & Y, which sold over 15 million units.

Worldwide, Nintendo has sold over 250 million 3DS games to date to go along 60 million 3DS consoles.
