You may have noticed ChromeSpot.com looks a little different today. In fact, it looks a lot different! We have gone through a complete website re-design and continue working on improving the experience for our readers.
In addition, you can now better enjoy your Chrome coverage on your Android smartphones and tablets! We have released an Android app that features all our content and articles in a simple and clean manner.
ChromeSpot re-design
Our developer, Steve Albright, has worked very hard on all the changes (as well as the app) for months now! As you have noticed, our site re-design changes the main colors of the site. This makes the website look much cleaner and sleek. In a way, the new design goes parallel with Chrome’s UI. The colors are lighter and the site, over all, is much neater.
There is one feature I am most excited about. If you scroll down, the top navigation bar will stay persistent on the top of the page. This will ensure our readers always have quick access to their shortcuts and categories. No need to scroll all the way back up when you are at the bottom of the page!
We have also re-vamped the logo for you. I have to say I fell in love with the new logo as soon as I saw it. It is very similar to Chrome’s official logo, but different enough to not be mistaken for it. The font and colors make the logo look much more modern and it fits perfectly with the new website design.
I believe it is a great image to represent our beloved site!

To compliment our awesome re-design, we have released a ChromeSpot app for your Android devices. This app is as clean and simple as the new website re-design. The main page is a clean list of our newsfeed with an image to represent the topic of the article.
Tap on the top-left menu button (or swipe from left to right) and you will be presented with specific sections and categories. Like so:
- Featured: This feature shows our latest featured articles. Including editorials, tutorials, reviews, hands-on and other such opinion pieces.
- Starred: You can star your favorite articles in the newsfeed. These will be showcased in this section, which you can always come back to. It’s a great feature if you want to come back to an article you can’t read when you find it. Or if you think you may need to check out those tutorials again.
- Categories: This will populate articles based on what categories they are in. For example, you can look at the apps, Chromebooks, Chromecast, Tips and Tricks and Themes sections.
The settings are also pretty straight forward. You can change the app’s appearance, edit Notification settings and log into Disqus for commenting from the app.

We are working hard on improving the site, so I wanted to personally thank you for all your support. We will continue working hard to bring you great content and a better experience. I believe the re-design and app release mark a new stage in ChromeSpot’s history. We are glad we can share this with you!
I love the new updates and app, but let us know what you think! Do you enjoy these changes? Any comments or suggestions would be very appreciated.
