When The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina of Time first game out on the N64, it took me months to complete. Months of playing, exploring, beating dungeon after dungeon, side quest after side quest — it was the coolest few months of gaming ever.
Because of its length and sheer size, Ocarina of Time has become quite a battleground over the years. Battleground for speedrunners who try and complete the game as fast as possible.
The previous record stood at 18 minutes and 10 seconds, it has now been broken by gamer “Jodenstone”, who did it 3 seconds faster, clocking in at 18 minutes and 7 seconds.
It’s quite an impressive time, considering that the first 3 minutes of the game are just cut scenes that cannot be skipped. Which means the entire game can actually be completed in just 15 minutes.
Of course, he uses a number of exploits to get it done. Nevertheless, it’s still an impressive feat. In order to get a time like that, you have to really know the game and every aspect of it. Not to mention the exploits.
As for my own time of several months, Ocarina of Time was one of the greatest gaming experiences ever. Except for the Water Temple. That place can rot in hell.
