Nintendo director: Link should be played by a “boyish female actress” in Zelda movie

There were some rumors about Nintendo working with Netflix on a Zelda TV series, but those rumors were quieted by the late Satoru Iwata. Officially, Nintendo has no plans of developing Zelda into a TV series or a movie.

But that’s not stopping top Nintendo brass from talking about a possible Zelda movie. Speaking to MTV, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka talked about the possibilities of Zelda filmed content.

Tezuka, who directed/produced A Link to the Past and Wind Waker, made an interesting comment about who should play Link.

“It would be very fun and awesome if Link was played by a female actress, a boyish female actress” Tezuka said in the video interview, which you can find above.

Both Tezuka and Miyamoto said they “only know Japanese actors”, and considering the types of “male” stars that are popular in Japan — the kind with very boyish, almost female faces, it wouldn’t be out of the question to imagine one of these guys playing Link:
