Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter now live, funding already reached

Yesterday we showed you the teaser announcement for Playtonic Games’ spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee. The game features the same animal duo concept with two entirely new characters, but with music by Grant Kirkhope and design by Gregg Mayles, the main designer for the Banjo-Kazooie series. Now that the Kickstarter has gone live, it was nearly instantly funded within the first 15 minutes of being available.

While the Kickstarter is funded at its most basic level, one thing the developers have mentioned they want to provide is a simultaneous platform release across all platforms, including PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U. In order to do that, they need a significant amount of funding, to the tune of around 1 million pounds.

Currently the Kickstarter is sitting at around £250,000 at time of writing and as more fans of the classic Nintendo 64 3D platformers are made aware of the campaign, that number is sure to grow. The basic pledge of $15 will guarantee you a copy of the game when it’s ready to launch, so if you like what you see on the Kickstarter page, consider chipping in to help them reach that £1 million goal so that all platforms will see the game at the same time, instead of the staggered release.
