If Nintendo ever becomes a company that blatantly plasters its mascots and characters on every item to squeeze every last bit of money out of them, we will look back at today and think: that’s how it started.
Because you’ll soon be able to buy Super Mario breakfast cereal.
That’s right, Nintendo and Kellogg’s have teamed up to release a Super Mario Odyssey cereal in the US.
Nintendo is famously very protective of its IP and its famous characters, and is very selective about where to use them for marketing. It looks like that might be changing soon, considering that they’re now selling breakfast cereal.
It’s still pretty cool though, as each box is Amiibo compatible, you can scan each box and “unlock special content” as the box says (see back of box below).
