In case you missed it, the recent Japanese-only Xenoblade Chronicles X presentation has been fully translated to English for fans to enjoy. During that presentation, we got a look at the home base for the game, New Los Angeles. As mentioned in that stream, Xenoblade Chronicles X does support off-TV play, but according to Koh Kojima, the game’s director, this support was only added at the request of the many Western fans waiting for the release of the game.

Kojima took to his Twitter account to let fans know that the feature was requested most by Western fans. The team was uncertain as to whether their game would support the feature, due to the sheer amount of information that is shared on the GamePad screen, even when the game’s action is displayed on the TV. Ultimately, the team found a way to make sure all the information was accessible for players even when only the Wii U GamePad is used, so Off-TV play for the game is supported.
