CNET lists Wii U as one of its top 5 worst tech gifts

Every year around the holidays, there’s a mad dash to buy the newest phones, game consoles, and tech gifts for loved ones, family, and friends. We’re used to seeing lists like this toward the end of the year but we’re surprised to find that CNET thinks the Wii U is a “gift dud” for this year.

According to the announcer in the video, who listed the Wii U at Number 4 in tech gifts no one wants to receive, “There’s only two gaming consoles people want to buy this year and the Wii U isn’t one of them.” Ouch. He further goes on to mention the price cut issued by Nintendo earlier this year and states that he believes the Wii U will be on firesale before the end of the year.

This sort of thing is exactly the kind of publicity the Nintendo Wii U doesn’t need, as it’s listed along with throwaway gifts like aging DVD players and BlackBerry handsets. Seriously, CNET?
