The Wii U has been a bit of a sales struggler, with Nintendo lowering sales projections after disappointing January sales. 66,000 units were sold in February, according to the release of NPD numbers yesterday. Wii U sales were outpaced largely by the competition, with the Xbox 360 moving 302,000 units and the PlayStation 3 moving 263,000.
Despite the low number, Macquarie Capital analyst Ben Schachter described the Wii U’s sales as a good performance, noting sales were up 45% compared to January. With the improved sales figures, Nintendo will also be able to meet its sales targets for the fiscal year.
The Wii U Deluxe model remains the bulk of the sales, with nearly 70% of consumers purchasing that version.
