Wii U sales saw a sharp increase in Japan last week, thanks to new bundles from Nintendo, Media Create reports. In total, Nintendo sold 47,000 Wii U consoles in the week of December 7th, which is up 15,000 units — a 50% increase in sales.
This is largely thanks to two new bundles: a Splatoon bundle and a Super Mario Maker bundle. Those two bundles sold 36,000 units combined last week.
Splatoon has been a big success and system seller for Nintendo. Recently, the company announced that Splatoon had sold 1 million copies in Japan.
The Wii U has sold 10.7 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2015. Splatoon has sold over 2.5 million units to date.
