Wii U racing game in development, will compete with Forza and Gran Turismo

Wii U racing game
Nintendo is working on a new Wii U racing game, according to latest rumors. It appears that new Wii U rumors are now emerging by the day, and the latest rumor suggests that Nintendo is working on a Wii U racing game that’s meant to compete with PlayStation 3’s Gran Turismo and Xbox 360’s Forza Motorsport. While Nintendo has had Mario Kart for a long time, and we’ll definitely see Mario Kart on the Wii U, they never had a dedicated racing simulator like the other consoles.

The new Wii U racing game, called “Concept Grand Prix”, according to DualPixels, will be based around simulation and players will be tasked to build their cars from ground up. The game would have all sorts of customization options which the player can use the Wii U controller to customize.

According to the source, Concept Grand Prix is developed by Lucid Games, which is a development studio comprised of ex-Bizzare Creations staff. Bizzare Creations was behind the Project Gotham Racing series. It’s unknown how long the studio is in development on the new Wii U racing game, but the first details are expected to be unveiled at E3 2012.

While Concept Grand Prix sounds interesting, it’s not the first Wii U racing game to be announced. Back in January, developer Slightly Mad announced that its upcoming Project Cars will be coming to the Wii U.
