Wii U is the second best selling console in Japan this week

Numbers for this week’s hardware and software sales in Japan are now available and the Wii U claims the second spot this week with nearly 29k consoles sold in the region. That’s a jump up from only 21k last week, when Super Mario 3D World was released. As we originally speculated, it looks like the title will be a long tail for Nintendo, so we hope we continue to see this rise in numbers over the course of the next few weeks.

In terms of the software side of things, Super Mario 3D World is the only Wii U game in the top ten chart, while 3DS and PS3 titles dominate the rest of the charts.
