Nintendo has revealed their second quarter financial results, which showed that the company had sales of $720 million, with an operating loss of $8 million.
The report also revealed just how many Wii U consoles they sold this fiscal year (since April): just 560,000. And those are worldwide sales. Wii U hardware sales are down 50 percent compared to the same period last year.
Software wise, the company sold 8.3 million Wii U games. Which isn’t bad, and shows just how many quality first party games Nintendo has released on the Wii U.
Why the slow Wii U sales? Lack of games. As Nintendo themselves put it: “There were no hit titles this period to compare with Splatoon and Super Mario Maker last year.”
To date, the Wii U has sold 13.36 million units with 92 million games sold.
