Wii U has only 2 games coming out in Japan until March. PS4: 22

The Wii U has had its fair share of game droughts over the course of its two-year lifespan. And for the next three months, there will be another drought of Wii U games in Japan.

The guys over at Kotaku did some digging and found that between now and March, the Wii U will be getting only 2 games. By comparison, the PS Vita, Sony’s struggling handheld console, will be getting 39 games.

Wii U’s main competitor in Japan, the PS4, will be getting 22 games. And so will the PS3. Even the Xbox One, with its non-existent sales in Japan, will be getting 8 games between now and March.

One of the Wii U games scheduled for release is Nintendo’s Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, which will be released on January 22 in Japan and on February 13 in North America.

Here’s the full breakdown of games released in Japan over the next couple of months:

  • 3DS: 17 games
  • Wii U: 2 games
  • PS Vita: 39 games
  • PS3: 22 games
  • PS4: 22 games
  • PSP: 6 games
  • Xbox 360: 4 games
  • Xbox One: 8 games

While the Wii U will be lacking on the games front over the next couple of months, there have been plenty of great Wii U games during the end of 2014. In fact, the Wii U has been doing quite well over the past few weeks, outselling the PS4 in Japan.
