Wii turns 10 years old today

Ten years ago today, the Nintendo Wii was released in North America to huge fanfare, selling out all over the country. In fact, it was sold out for many, many weeks after it was released.

When the other console makers at the time were competing on hardware and graphics, Nintendo took a different route, introducing motion controls that appealed to everyone — from little kids to their grandparents.

The Wii became Nintendo’s most successful home console ever, selling over 100 million units during its run.
