Unlock new characters when you link Smash Wii U and 3DS? [RUMOR]

With the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS out in just a day, we’ve seen some early leaks of new characters that weren’t revealed by Sakurai, including the confirmation that the Duck Hunt Dog is in the game. This left many people disappointed that other characters were left out when clones like Dr. Mario and Dark Pit were revealed.

Either way, a new rumor has surfaced that says there are still more unlockable characters in the game that are unlocked by linking the Nintendo 3DS version of the game to the Wii U version. Supposedly these characters include Dixie Kong, Ridley, Chorus Men and Mewtwo. It’s all a giant rumor at this point since we don’t have access to the Wii U version to verify, but if certain characters are only unlockable by linking the Nintendo 3DS version, that means if you want the full roster you’ll need to own both versions.
