Ubisoft announces Gamescom lineup, no sign of Watch Dogs Wii U

Today Ubisoft has revealed their lineup of games to be showcased at Gamescom this year. Gamescom is an industry show that takes place between August 13 to August 17 in Cologne, Germany this year. The lineup for Ubisoft includes several already announced games, as well as a few that haven’t been announced for PC. The real kicker here is that despite the lineup, there is absolutely no mention of Watch Dogs for Wii U.

The last statement we had about the game came from the game’s senior producer, Dominic Guay. According to him, the game was still being developed but did not have a solid release date.

Yeah it’s still alive. We still haven’t defined a ship date for it, though. So it’s on hold, to a certain extent for shipping. We don’t have a specific ship date for it yet so it’s considered within the year. So we’re going to look at that and we’re going to let people know as soon as we figure out an exact date for it.

This statement was made back in March, before the game released on May 27 across all other platforms. With Watch Dogs being a no show at Gamescom, we’re starting to wonder whether or not Ubisoft will be releasing the game within the 2014 year. If they plan on releasing it during the busy fall schedule, it will be going up against titles like Bayonetta 2 and Super Smash Bros., making it almost instantly a flop for people who may have already played the game on other consoles.

Either way, the lack of Watch Dogs at Gamescom leads us to believe this probably won’t be hitting the Wii U until 2015.
