Confirmed: you can transfer old Virtual Console games to Wii U

Wii U backwards compatibilityIf you have purchased a lot of games on Nintendo’s WiiWare and Virtual Console service for the original Wii, you’re in luck. Nintendo has confirmed that players will be able to transfer their old downloads to the Wii U. Nintendo previously hinted at this feature back at E3 2012, and now it’s confirmed via the latest Wii U Game Informer issue. It’s certainly great news for those who have a ton of Virtual Console and WiiWare games, to simply transfer them to the new Wii U Virtual Console. The Wii U has 8 GB internal storage for games and data, but allows for external USB flash and hard drives to be used for games and everything else. The Wii U is also backwards compatible with Wii games and accessories, so all of your older games will be perfectly playable on the new console. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support GameCube games, although Nintendo is rumored to be offering some GameCube titles on the Wii U Virtual Console.
