You might not even know what the heck “Ping” and “Tracert” mean, yet when someone is walking you through troubleshooting something they may ask you to do a ping or traceroute. They could explain how to do it on Windows or Mac but they MAY not know how to do it on a Chomebook. Fortunately, you soon will.
- CTRL+ALT+T will open up the command prompt
- Type “ping webaddresshere.com” – replacing “webaddresshere.com” with the address or IP you want to ping
- Type “tracepath webaddresshere.com” – replacing “webaddresshere.com with the address or IP you want to traceroute.
- Obviously hit enter after typing in desired action (without quotes) and let it run!
- Type “exit” and press enter to go back to your normal Chromebook experience
Hope this helps both you and any IT specialist looking to troubleshoot a Chromebook!
