The very first Wii U game, Nintendo Land, is now on the eShop

When the Wii U launched, Nintendo decided to bundle a game with the console to showcase the new GamePad controller with a mini-game title. Much like they did with the Wii and Wii Sports.

However, Nintendo Land didn’t prove to be as big of a sales driver for the Wii U as Wii Sports was for the Wii. Nevertheless, the game was somewhat-well received by critics, and it did what it was supposed to do: showcase the possibility of the Wii U.

It’s been many years since anyone even mentioned Nintendo Land, let alone play it. So Nintendo is now reminding us that it still exists by putting it up on the Wii U eShop for $20.

Which is quite a steep price, considering that a used copy of the game goes for less than half price pretty much anywhere online.

Since the game was bundled with the Wii U in the beginning, Nintendo Land is the third best selling Wii U game in history, with 5 million copies sold (the best selling is Mario Kart 8, followed by New Super Mario Bros U).
