During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, president Satoru Iwata announced that more amiibo are incoming, featuring some of the lesser known characters that fans have been waiting for. One of those was revealed to be Ness, the protagonist of the Mother series that Western gamers are probably most familiar with from Earthbound.
The downside of the announcement of these new amiibo is that Iwata confirmed retail exclusivity for several of the characters, but no information was given as to which retailers would have which exclusives. Considering how the first round of retailer-exclusive amiibo were handled by every partner who got one, it’s not unfair to say that retailer exclusives put consumers at a disadvantage. GameStop announced the exclusive by letting consumers know that Ness will be up for pre-order today.

Either way that partnership is continuing and GameStop has just announced that it will be the exclusive retail partner for the Ness amiibo. GameStop’s exclusive the last time around was the Shulk amiibo. With Ness officially in GameStop hands, the only question we have left is who is Nintendo giving to Target, Best Buy, and Walmart this time around?
