Tekken team helping out with Super Smash Bros Wii U

Namco Wii UNamco recently made some interesting comments about the Wii U, saying that its processor is underpowered and that the Wii U GamePad isn’t suited for fighting games. Some found these comments surprising, considering that Namco is helping Nintendo out with the upcoming Super Smash Bros Wii U fighting game. However, Namco is taking the game very seruously, saying that Super Smash Bros Wii U is a “big priority” for the developer. Not only that, the team behind Tekken is lending a helping hand to the development of the new Smash Bros title.

“It’s a big priority for the company, company wide there are a lot of people involved with that particular project. Not just from Tekken but a lot of our franchises”, said Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada to NowGamer. He added that while the core staff at Namco are busy with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the Wii U and other consoles, they’ll be supporting the Super Smash Bros Wii U dev team later on.

But when it comes to including Tekken characters in Super Smash Bros Wii U, Harada was less than optimistic. “When thinking of the playerbase who is playing Smash Bros, maybe Tekken characters is something they wouldn’t want”. What do you think? Would you like to see some Tekken characters in the upcoming SmashBros fighting game?
