Team Meat wants to see Super Meat Boy in Smash Bros.

Super Meat Boy was one of the biggest indie games of 2010 and since its release, fans have been drawing and imagining the character in a Smash Bros. game. Creators Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes–collectively known as Team Meat–have said they’re okay with this. In a recent interview with Eurogamer about future projects, the duo said they’d definitely work with Nintendo again if Nintendo could guarantee their lovable meat bag a spot in the new Smash Bros. roster.

McMillen: “I want Meat Boy to be in Smash Bros. That would be the one reason I’d really want to develop for a Nintendo console.”

Refenes: “That would be amazing! If they could guarantee us Meat Boy would be in Smash Bros., we would do something.”

McMillen: “Nintendo are you listening? Smash Bros! We would ask for nothing in return. Just f***ing use the character. Put him in the game. It’s free!”

Refenes: “If they wanted Mew-Genics or something and they could promise us Meat Boy would be in the game we’d develop Mew-Genics for them. Not exclusively, of course. This is how they would buy it from us. And that’s a very cheap price.”

Super Meat Boy was originally planned to be a WiiWare title, but due to strict file sizes for WiiWare titles, it had to be scrapped. It’s nice to see Team Meat still willing to work with Nintendo, even if it’s at such an oddball request. What do you think? Would you play Meat Boy if he were made available in the newest Smash Bros.?
