Update: the numbers represent software sales for the month of March, not hardware sales as previously reported. We have updated the article with the correct information.
UK software sales numbers for March are out and according to the data, there were 137,000 Switch games sold during its first month on the market there.
By comparison, PS4 sold over 800,000 software units in the UK in March, while the Xbox One sold 500,000, according to the latest issue of UK trade paper MCV. However, both of those consoles have a way larger install base.
As for specific Switch games, Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the third best selling game in March in the UK, which is quite a feat, considering that the Switch just launched.
1-2 Switch was #9, while there was a big jump to the next games on the list: Super Bomberman R at #23 and Just Dance 2017 at #28 (someone actually bought Just Dance on the Switch?)
What’s surprising is that the Wii U got a little boost in games sales as well: over 50,000 Wii U games were sold in March, most of them were likely Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
