Switch sales reach 1.5 million in Japan

Nintendo Switch sales in Japan have surpassed 1.5 million units following last week’s sales numbers in Japan, where the Switch got back to the top spot as the best selling console in the country.

1.5 million is very impressive, especially considering the massive shortages and the fact that the console was released less than six months ago.

By comparison, it took the Wii U almost twice as long to reach 1.5 million units sold in Japan.

The top selling Switch game so far has been Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has sold over 4 million units worldwide, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has sold over 3 million units to date.

Both will likely be overtaken by the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey, scheduled for release next month.
