Switch sales outpacing PS4 by 2 to 1 in Japan

The Nintendo Switch is tremendously popular in Japan — each weekend people are queuing all over the country to buy the console, and that’s almost 6 months after it’s been released.

The console is so popular that after almost 6 months on the market, it’s outselling the PS4 by 2 to 1. During its first 6 months on the market in Japan, the PS4 sold 650,000 units.

But during the same time frame, the Switch has sold over 1,4 million units in Japan.

It’s even more impressive when you look at the last 3 months: the Switch is averaging about 45,000 units sold per week, while the PS4 averaged only 7,000 units per week.

And keep in mind that the PS4 was not facing any shortages when it launched, so if Nintendo had enough supply, the different would be even greater.
