Switch outsells Wii U lifetime sales in less than a year in Japan

Unlike North America, there is always plenty of sales data for the Japanese market. And because of all the data, we know exactly how many units each console sells on a weekly basis.

And now we know that the Switch has reached another milestone in Japan: the console has outsold Wii U’s lifetime sales in Japan in less than a year.

As of December 26th, the Switch has sold over 3.4 million units in Japan, surpassing Wii U’s lifetime sales of 3.3 million units in the country.

Earlier this week the Switch also outsold the first year sales of the PS2 in Japan, which eventually went on to become the best selling home console of all time.
