Switch Joy-Con grip doesn’t charge the controllers

You’ll have to put another Switch accessory on your list if you want to charge the Joy-Con controllers while using the grip: the standard grip that’s included is just a piece of plastic, it doesn’t actually charge the small controllers.

If you want to charge them, you’ll have to fork up 30 bucks for the Joy-Con grip that has the ability to charge the controllers (pictured below).

The 30-dollar grip features a USB-C port that can be used to charge the Joy-Cons, which take about 3.5 hours to charge and last up to 20 hours on a single charge.

But if you don’t want to spend the extra 30 bucks, the only way to charge the Joy-Con controllers is to attach them to the Switch console.

Which means if you want to play on your TV but batteries are low, you have no choice but to attach the controllers to the tablet and play on-the-go.
