Switch breaks sales record for Nintendo in America

Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime told the new York Times that the Switch has broken the sales record for a Nintendo console in its first two days on the market.

While he didn’t reveal specific sales numbers, we know that the previous record was held by the Wii, which sold 600,000 units during its first 8 days on the market.

Earlier today we reported that the Switch sold 330,000 units in Japan during the first three days on the market there, so it’s likely that sales in America are similar.

Reggie also said that Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the best selling launch title ever for a Nintendo console (not counting bundled games such as Wii Sports).

Hopefully Nintendo shares the official sales numbers for the launch soon.
