Nintendo Switch has an “airplane” mode

The Nintendo Switch console will feature an airplane mode that disables all wireless communication when on a plane, a new screenshot of the UI confirms.

The Switch airplane mode is a standard feature on most mobile devices, and while the 3DS didn’t have an official “airplane mode”, where was a quick way of turning off wireless connections.

For the Switch, users will have a single button in the settings menu to switch the console into airplane mode. This should also help on battery life since wireless is turned off.

However, it’s unclear if that includes wireless connection to the Joy-Con controllers.

Here’s what the Switch menu option for Airplane mode says:

All wireless communication such as WiFi and Bluetooth will be turned off. Some type of wireless communication can still be switched on manually when the console is in Airplane mode.

The Switch Airplane mode is also available via the Quick Menu on the console.

While all airlines recommend the use of an Airplane mode (or Flight mode), some airlines allows the use of WiFi and Bluetooth.
