Super Smash Bros. was second best selling game in October

NPD-Group

Unlike Japan which releases sales reports weekly for the region, NPD Group only releases their figures monthly and then they’re only ranked in the top ten, not releasing full figures to the public. Still, this top ten list gives us an idea of what’s popular for the month. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS managed to claim the second spot, unable to dethrone NBA 2K15.

What’s really surprising is that Destiny has dropped down to number five on the charts only a month after release. It seems like the game Sony was betting on to carry them through the holidays hasn’t been the massive success that was speculated.

It’s also of interest that Super Smash Bros. is the only title on this list that is exclusive to a single console, meaning the combined sales of these other games on multiple platforms couldn’t out-perform sales of it on Nintendo’s 3DS. The people love Smash.
