We all knew a new Super Smash Bros. would be headed to Wii U, but what we don’t know are which characters aren’t going to make the cut. In previous interviews, series producer Masahiro Sakurai stated that he wanted to trim the fat and cut out some of the clone characters that have appeared, yet yesterday Toon Link was announced for the roster. Many of you were excited, since Toon Link tends to play much differently than his adult counterpart.
In the past few months since E3, Sakurai revealed that the villager from Animal Crossing, the trainer from Wii Fit, and Mega Man would be joining the roster. These are all new characters that have never seen play time before, so many of you are excited about getting your thumbs on an controller to destroy each other with new characters. Even though the game won’t be releasing for another year almost, that hasn’t stopped Nintendo fans from going wild with memes about the new characters.
We’re all excited to see who will be announced next, as a steady stream of characters have been teased and revealed over the last few weeks. Some of them have been rather obvious, which is to be expected considering we’re quite far out on a release date for the game. Nintendo wants to keep new additions for big reveals, such as those at E3.
Luigi, Princess Peach, and now Toon Link are all obvious choices for the game, but that begs the question of who is getting left out? Each roster change sees at least a few characters dropped. Lucario is pretty much expected to not return, while the fate of the more popular Jigglypuff is up in the air. So this brings me to the topic for this discussion:
