First debuted at E3 last year, Nintendo has put a lot of work into showcasing Mario Maker as a do-it-yourself Mario game for those who love creating new levels in platformers and challenging themselves and their friends.
The presentation of how the Mario Maker idea came about was highly interesting, as Mr. Miyamoto sat down with several of the original design documents from the first Mario game the team worked on. They drew out the original levels using graph paper and used wax see-through overlays to correct any mistakes. Mario Maker is like a digitized version of that process, without needing to redraw anything or add new layers.
Super Mario Maker will be available on the Wii U on September 11, 2015.
