Super Bomberman R sales on Switch are a franchise best in Japan

Super Bomberman R is enjoying huge success in Japan compared to previous titles released in the series, which goes to show what being a launch title for a major console can do for any game. First, here’s a peek at a sales chart that shows how previous Bomberman titles performed in Japan, with the Switch on the far right end.

Bomberman Touch was the previous best-selling title in the series with around 8,000 units sold in Japan on the Nintendo DS. Super Bomberman R on the Nintendo Switch has shifted just a few units under 40,000 which is a near 400% increase in sales. Super Bomberman R was one of the few launch titles available on the Nintendo Switch in Japan.

What’s interesting about this is that Konami has stated that it will consider reviving more franchises from its storied history as a game developer if Super Bomberman R does well, so I think it’s just a matter of time before we see more from Konami.

Keep in mind this is Japan only for now, we don’t have a look at how well the game has done in the rest of the world.
